Acer America and Macla's DMCStudio Launch Poetry Workshop Bridging Our Tech + Arts Community
We are alive in excitement to announce Acer America’s volunteer project with Macla’s DMCStudio in San Jose, Ca starting November 19th! To work towards Acer’s mission of breaking barriers between people and technology, Acer America employees are invited to volunteer as mentors to learn about the issues affecting our youth in a safe space. During the poetry workshop Acer employees and youth are able to enter through dialogue as a collaborative. Mentors will also be interviewed on camera by the youth about truancy. The truancy video will be presented at an event hosted by MACLA to San Jose community leaders, officials and the Santa Clara DA’s office in early 2019.
Our goal for this project is to create a Corporate Social Responsibility project for Acer that is impactful to our community and to bridge the gap between our tech and arts community. It’s all community vibes at Chi and we are happy to launch their volunteer campaign. Make sure to follow us at @chicreativeagency on Instagram to keep up with our volunteer campaign at Acer America! The front desk at Acer will host a mini art exhibit to share photographs, zines and poetry from DMCStudio this whole month.
WHEN ARE THE WORKSHOPS AND CAN I JOIN?
We are working on getting Acer employees to volunteer first as space is limited. If you are interested attending as a youth or mentor don’t hesitate to email firstname.lastname@example.org. She’ll keep you posted on the availability for the workshop.

DO I NEED EXPERIENCE AS A MENTOR OR WRITING POETRY?
Not at all! Local spoken word artist, Jarvis Subia, will be facilitating the poetry workshop. We are looking for volunteers who are open to sharing their wisdom with youth, learn about the importance of arts education and to try something new!
